Make, A Website

I’ve just completed the revamped website for Brisbane-based advertising agency Make Communications through my work at Cru Digital. Make are the guys behind the I (green heart) BNE and Bond University campaigns. I recommend watching a few of their TV and Radio reels.

This website was designed by Make themselves, I was given a week to develop it from scratch.

Rotat’s Level Editor

I’ve been working on this one for a while, though recently I’ve revamped it and improved it by a million fold. I present, to you, the drawing tools for Rotat’s level editor.

NB: This content was lost in the great blog migration of 2009. I am working on an advanced version of it and will be sure to share when it is available

The pen draws shapes, the hand moves shapes and the X deletes shapes. Once you start drawing a shape, you can close it by clicking on the first point again. Also, the canvas (in white) is movable.

This is one of my personal favourite examples of my drawing API usage. This one uses some great trig to automatically curve as you draw.

The Rotat level editor will rely on this for user experience, and I believe it is intuitive. Please offer any recommendations to make it more intuitive.

Wonderwall

For reasons unknown to all I have decided to do a rocked-up version of Oasis’ track Wonderwall.

It’s faster, harder, louder and rockier – not that it needed to be. Take a listen if you want.

My Isometric Engine – 3D Bouncing + I love entropy (Get Out There)

UPDATE: I have now used this Isometric Engine in a live project. Check it out at getoutthere.qld.gov.au.

I decided to try my hand at isometric 3D. I’m developing a basic API called IsoMetrix. It handles all the movement and trig whilst allowing simple adjustments to all axis’.

The company I work for, Cru Digital, has a use for this – and most of the engines me and my colleague Matt looked at were unnecessarily complex. Hopefully, with a some further tweaking, this can do the job we want.

The Victim

It has been a little while since I posted – in the last couple of weeks I’ve been pushing out some websites for Cru. (more on this soon)

I have, just today, finished recording/writing the third Vyrion track for the upcoming EP titled “The Victim”. At just under eight minutes long.

UPDATE – Has been properly mastered.

New Vyrion Logo

Lately I haven’t been doing alot of graphic or logo design, so it was nice to get the chance to spend a few moments pondering over what the new Vyrion logo should look like.

Here it is…

Overall, I’m very happy with the results… let me know your thoughts. :)

The Decision

This metal track is the direct follow-up to The Decider – though it was written a while beforehand. Once titled “The One That Mark Hates That Isn’t Green”, this is likely to appear on the next Vyrion disc.

Hook

I’ve recently made this demo, at work, for an advertising firm named Hook. It is entirely scripted – even the hook’s drawing – and no library elements were used to create it.

Rotat The Rat

Rotat the Rat is a game programming excericise that I’m working on in my spare time. Originally intended to aide in my transition to fully object orientated programming, it has quickly become a pet project and is seeing extended development criteria.

The game is a blend of 2D platformer and pinball mechanics with realtime physics – delivering an experience that shound be a smoothe blend of mario meets sonic meets super monkey ball.

I started the project last December in Actionscript 2, but abandoned all of the code in favour of Actionscript 3. The Actionscript 3 version has been in build for one month and is a fair distance from alpha.

My hopes are to launch the project online and as seperate downloads for Linux, Mac and Windows complete with a level and campaign editor and online account services.

If its online run is successful, the project aims to eventually become downloadable content for various videogame consoles.

The Decider

I’ve been recording for about eight hours – with a break for a Jim Beam or two in the mean time.

The result is the following track – a demo for the upcoming Vyrion EP titled “The Decider”.
